Timing & posture is everything.
I thought I’d share what my standard work uniform looks like. Of course there are multiple variations on a theme, but it’s all a lot like this. A skirt w tights occasionally gets in there, but I love pockets (Especially at work!!) & easy to wear clothes, so jeans/pants get a lot of play. I also thought it would be quite reality based to share what my other 10 or so pics look like before I get the ONE that looks like the goddess I imagine myself to be. The ones that expose all the twists, bends, odd angles & shitty posture my body naturally prefers. There’s no trick camera angles to disguise my real body, but once in a while, I get the exact pic I wanted. I hope this will help others to show themselves as they are because self pride/love is where it’s at & only YOU can do it!! If you don’t bring attention to yourself, it’s beyond easy to ignore a person w a disabling condition. Automatic invisibility is yr super power that you never wanted.
Given all this fashion honesty, I’m def holding my breath for Ford Models Crip Division to call re: my highly paid, diva like contract they want me to sign. I’m just the Crip they’re looking for.

Sunday is the 92nd Anniversary of Women's Voting Rights
Every year on August 26th, the United States honors and celebrates Women’s Equality Day. This Sunday marks the 92nd anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The 19th Amendment guarantees American women the right to vote, and was passed on August 26, 1920.
The passing of the…
I think Women’s Equality Day is just words strung together with hope & lies. Notably, Sunday the 26th is also National Dog Day, so there are two made up “holidays” on Sunday in the USA & more overwhelming evidence that a canine pal is not the worst thing a woman can share a day with.

Chiffon top: Delia’s. Tank: Gap. Shorts: castoffs from my BF. Bag: Marc Jacobs Collection. Belt w/ pouch: Modcloth. Thrifted Boots: Camper. Necklace: DIY found charms on a chain. Nail polish: MAC
This is not my favorite Marc Jacobs bag. but it’s the one I’ve been using a lot lately. The thing I like about Marc Jacobs bags is that they are over sized and can be WAY overstuffed, which is necessary.Posted on August 20, 2012 with 11 notes ()

I lost my shit when I heard Hostess was filing Chapter 11. Snack cakes have always been cooler than people to me. No judgement, no side eye, no “I’m sorry you’re afflicted.”, just accepting, satisfying, sweet sweet cake & yummy cream filling. Sno Balls are my favorite.
I was going to do a post/whining session on crazy inappropriate questions complete strangers have asked me w complete impunity but that seems played out. If you leave an inappropriate comment/question posed to you (by “you”, I mean anyone reading this) in Comments, I’ll leave you one of mine. No comments censored because it’s important for the TAB’s (temporarily able bodied) & the crips to literally spell out the ignorance out there. Oh & if I don’t respond immediately, I’m busy, but I WILL respond.

Two bitches, two wheelchairs, one freezing winter in Holland. Zoe: Thrifted outfit. REI Travel bag. Claudia: Fur hat: H&M. Vintage leopard coat: Leah Onomatopoeia. Leah is a close friend of mine, a hard working woman w a delightful family & a superb Vintage Broker in Chicago/Indiana. She’s the kind of friend who brings you something while she was thrifting for herself because she found something so cute in YOUR size. Thanks Leah for outfitting me from the heart for years. If you are looking for unique vintage pieces in a variety of sizes, I’d look to her. She is cool with all shapes, sizes & abilities. So if you ever meet her at a vintage bazaar or contact her individually, don’t be shy. You can always talk openly w her regarding your vintage needs.

A sneak peek of a photo set from Dan the Automator at The California Academy of Science…Coz crips go on hot dates to shows too. Stay tuned!
BTW, does it bug anyone else that they always have the Paralympics AFTER the Olympics? One of the most blatant forms of ableism I’ve ever heard. And I hear & see a lot.

I’m Claudia. I have Idiopathic Early Onset Torsion Dystonia. Likes are nice, but take the plunge, if you can take the heat, and FOLLOW USfor fuck’s sake, to truly see our crip lives & the ways we bend the world to our whims. You can always unsubscribe if you find our content boring or irrelevant.
I use a wheelchair most of the time I’m out, but I walk around my apartment I share with my Partner, Mr. C. We have been together for more than a decade. He doesn’t care how old I am or what I can’t do, but he wishes I was more about cleaning up. I don’t blame him. I’m often a hot mess. Dishes in my office, spilt coffee, shoes everywhere and way too much clothes. I can assure you I’m worth it.
Let’s see. I’m not in my 20’s, I eat A LOT, have a vast make up collection that I rarely over indulge in, I’m short & I do very little to my hair. I must admit, I have days that are not at all fashionable. I started this blog because I don’t see enough fashion blogs with disabled broads AND couture inspiration in them. When I say “disability” I’m not talking about just the kind of disabilities you’d expect, but disabling conditions that are daily annoyances as well as HUGE issues that can destroy any semblance of healthy body image, self esteem or even self worth. Let’s face it, the worlds of couture fashion & disability NEVER collide. I’m here because ALL interesting and experienced women are worth a good, admiring look, not just things that should look good. I’m also here because I love fashion & appreciate the occasional costume based outfit just for kicks. I don’t remember not enjoying fashion. I grew up waiting for weekly installments of “Style with Elsa Klensch” on CNN.
I would also never have done this blog without my BFF of more than two decades, Zoe. Her primary disability when I met her was ETOH. As time has progressed, that too has changed but that’s her story to tell. And she will soon in a post because she is a co conspirator in this critically lauded project.
I will answer your questions if I deem them fit to answer and in the manner I want to answer them.
